Robert Burr, AAE Executive Director for the Glynn County Airport Commission has over 40 years of airport management experience including positions with Nashville International Airport, and Tampa International Airport. He is a Real Property Administrator (RPA ) as well as a private pilot, and an Adjunct Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in airport management and a master’s degree in aerospace education, both from Middle Tennessee State University. He is an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) from the American Association of Airport Executives and a board member of the Georgia Airports Association.
Shawna Williams is the Finance and Administration Manager for the Glynn County Airport Commission. She has over 20 years experience working in financial positions for municipal governments including the lead Accountant with Cobb County, GA. Williams received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Berry College with emphasis in Communication and Media Studies. She is also a member of Georgia Government Finance Officers Association.
Terra Winslett, C.M. is the Airport Property and Marketing Manager for the Glynn County Airport Commission managing property for the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport and the McKinnon St. Simons Island Airport. 20+ years of experience in office administration ranging from Airport, Real Estate, as well as Real Estate and Construction Office Management. She is a Georgia licensed Real Estate Broker, and acheived her Certified Member (C.M.) designation from the American Association of Airport Executives in 2016.
Vernon Bessing is the Operations and Facility Manager for the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport. He has 27 years of facility and grounds experience with the Glynn County Airport Commission. He hosts numerous certifications including Airfield Lighting, Master Landscape, Pesticide Chemical Licensures, Commercial CDL Licensures, and is certified in Wildlife Management.
Management Support Staff
Jerald Penzo is the Facility Coordinator at the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport and been employed with the commission since the opening of the new terminal in 2005. He served 6 years in the United States Air Force Fighter as Inceptor Controller Master Technician and Instructor. Earning the Presidential Citation Medal. He earned his private Pilot's license at 18 upon graduation from High school and continued flying in the Air Force. Employed by Eastern Airlines in Atlanta, GA, for Control Tower, Ramp Agent and Ticket Agent. Held State Pest control license in Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. Experience as Purchasing manager and Sales Management. He also is a holds a class CDL License.
John Duncan is the Operation Coordinator for the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport. He has over thirty years of experience at this airport, most recently as a supervisor with Delta Airlines. During his tenure with Delta Airlines he served as a TSA approved Ground Security Coordinator, Training Administrator, D.O.T. Complaint Resolution Officer and De-Icing instructor.
Leigh Newton, Leigh Newton is the Airport Property Coordinator. She is a local and has over 10 years of experience with the Glynn County Board of Commissioners in GIS, E-911 Operations, Property Development Planning and Office Administration. Her professional background also includes Wildlife Biology and Management where she worked with the Georgia DNR Nongame & Endangered Wildlife Program for 5 years. Leigh graduated from the University of Georgia and received her Bachelor of Science in Forest Resources with Emphasis in Wildlife Management.
Katherine Kissling is the Senior Administrative Coordinator for the Glynn County Airport Commission. Her 20 year career includes various corporate roles: Human Resources, Office Manager and C-suite Executive Assistant. She received her Associate of Arts degree from Broward College with emphasis on Business Administration and Management. She has continued her education with university courses, professional development seminars and Georgia county government training. She is a member of the American Society of Administrative Professionals, Society for Human Resource Management, Georgia Association of County Clerks and the Georgia Local Government Personnel Association.
TIffany Landry is the Airport Accountant for the Glynn County Airport Commission. She has over 10 years of accounting experience. Tiffany has extensive knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month end close. Tiffany received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Immaculata University with emphasis in both Accounting and Business Administration with a minor in Finance.
